Software Maintenance Engineer

Canonical is the open-source company behind Ubuntu, working with a globally distributed team. The role focuses on resolving issues across the full Linux infrastructure stack (kernel, virtualization, containerization, OpenStack, Kubernetes) and developing upstream bug fixes.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Resolve issues in Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, and Kubernetes
  • ▹Maintain close collaboration with support and product engineering teams
  • ▹Participate in upstream communities
  • ▹Develop bug fixes and backport patches
  • ▹Review code from other engineers

Requirements

  • ▹Exceptional academic track record
  • ▹Background in Computer Science or STEM
  • ▹Experience with Linux and open source software
  • ▹Experience with Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux
  • ▹Willingness to learn unfamiliar technology
