Linux Platform Integration - Ubuntu Systems Senior Engineer

Canonical is looking for a senior engineer who works across the full Linux stack, including kernel, networking, virtualization, and graphics, to optimise Ubuntu for the latest hardware. The role involves close partnership with silicon vendors and technical leadership on customer engagements, fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Design Ubuntu integration for IoT, desktop, and server hardware
  • ▹Deliver an optimised Ubuntu experience together with partners
  • ▹Act as technical lead on customer engagements
  • ▹Support integration of apps, SDKs, and device OS images

Requirements

  • ▹Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM
  • ▹Experience with Linux packaging (Debian, RPM, Yocto)
  • ▹Experience with open-source communities and licences
  • ▹Experience with Python, C, C++
  • ▹Ability to work in a globally distributed team

Nice to have

  • ▹Server technology experience (UEFI firmware, GPU, RDMA/Infiniband, virtualization)
  • ▹Experience with graphics stacks
  • ▹Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTP/REST)
  • ▹IoT/embedded experience
  • ▹Experience with CI automation platforms (e.g., GitHub)
  • ▹Performance benchmarking and profiling experience
