Engineering Lead, Payments Platform

Stack

Responsibilities

• ▹Lead a team of engineers, setting goals and development targets, and supporting them with feedback
• ▹Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to define the product roadmap
• ▹Develop REST services and integration components within a backend microservices architecture, connecting with a React frontend
• ▹Conduct architectural reviews for current and upcoming solutions
• ▹Address tech debt and enhance operational effectiveness such as MTTD and MTTR
• ▹Contribute to hiring, training, and development of engineers on the team

Requirements

• ▹8+ years of software engineering experience with low-latency, distributed systems
• ▹At least one year of experience managing teams
• ▹Strong computer science fundamentals, experience with Java or Kotlin, Spring/Spring Boot
• ▹Experience designing and building REST APIs
• ▹Experience with high-volume distributed systems and Kafka event streams
• ▹Experience with distributed data storage systems (Cassandra, Hazelcast, Oracle Coherence, or similar)
• ▹Experience with GCP or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront, etc.), Docker, and Kubernetes
• ▹JavaScript/TypeScript knowledge
• ▹Experience with operational tooling such as New Relic, StatsD, Elk, Datadog, Prometheus

Nice to have

• ▹Experience building a payment gateway, acquiring, or issuing platform
• ▹Experience integrating local payment methods (iDeal, Klarna, Trustly) or cards (Visa, Mastercard)
