System Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer

Responsibilities

• ▹Operate, maintain and enhance VoIP and Radius systems within high-performance data centers
• ▹Develop and improve automated system management using Puppet and Debian-based server clusters
• ▹Drive projects within the VoIP and Radius environment from design and implementation to deployment
• ▹Perform performance analysis and optimization
• ▹Plan and execute rollouts of new features and system updates
• ▹Carry out regular maintenance (system expansions, updates, upgrades)
• ▹Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a structured, goal-oriented manner
• ▹Coordinate with upstream providers by creating and managing trouble tickets
• ▹Participate in an on-call rotation (additional compensation provided)

Requirements

• ▹A degree in Computer Science, Natural Sciences or a comparable qualification
• ▹Several years of experience in IT operations (FOSS systems or Site Reliability Engineering)
• ▹Strong expertise in Linux administration, especially with clustered environments
• ▹Practical experience with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem and Change Management)
• ▹Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, UDP)
• ▹Scripting skills (Bash, Python, Perl) for automation
• ▹Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• ▹Knowledge of MySQL / MariaDB administration
• ▹Proactive, service-oriented mindset and ability to quickly understand complex systems
• ▹Good English skills (written and spoken)

Nice to have

• ▹Experience with virtualization (e.g. KVM, Proxmox, oVirt, OpenStack)
• ▹Knowledge of VoIP technologies and telephony systems (e.g. Asterisk, Kamailio)
• ▹Experience with FreeRADIUS
• ▹Basic German
