Unity Support Engineer

Part-time Unity Support Engineer role that tracks Unity SDK updates and diagnoses and fixes integration issues with a Django backend. Up to 10 hours per month for 6–12 months.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Review Unity SDK release notes monthly
  • ▹Identify and flag breaking changes that may affect integration with Django
  • ▹Assess the impact of each release on the existing API contract
  • ▹Reactive compatibility patching on the Unity client side when SDK updates introduce incompatibilities or Django integration points fail
  • ▹Participate in incident diagnostics (frozen screens, stale or missing content, Unity client not receiving configuration from Django)
  • ▹Clarify root causes, propose and implement fixes
  • ▹Collaborate with the backend team and external stakeholders and document known issues and workarounds in runbooks

Requirements

  • ▹Proven Unity SDK experience: release cycles and versioning strategies, Unity Package Manager and dependency management, upgrading packages without breaking the project
  • ▹Ability to read, analyze and modify C# code in existing Unity projects (focus on diagnosis, debugging and targeted patching)
  • ▹Understanding of how a Unity standalone application consumes REST APIs: HTTP client usage, JSON serialization, error handling and retry strategies
  • ▹Experience configuring and building Unity standalone targets for Windows and/or Linux
  • ▹Ability to reproduce and diagnose runtime issues locally using logs, breakpoints and diagnostic tools
  • ▹Practical knowledge of Unity plugins and Package Manager: updating dependencies safely, resolving conflicts and version mismatches
  • ▹English level B2+: reading technical documentation and runbooks, communicating clearly with clients

Nice to have

  • ▹Experience using Unity for digital signage, kiosk systems or interactive displays (not traditional game development)
  • ▹Basic understanding of Django REST API from the client perspective
  • ▹Conceptual familiarity with GCP Cloud Run
  • ▹Experience with jump PCs / RDP for remote diagnostics: collecting logs and reproducing issues on remote machines
