Staff Backend Engineer - Submission Processing (Europe)

Responsibilities

• ▹Design systems and make architectural calls under ambiguity
• ▹Play a key role in setting the technical direction for the team
• ▹Build and scale LLM-based systems that process billions of highly unstructured data points daily, extract precise information, and surface insights that insurers rely on for high-stakes decisions
• ▹Own end-to-end outcomes, from design through delivery
• ▹Experiment: test ideas, measure results and iterate quickly on problems that have not been solved before

Requirements

• ▹8+ years of software engineering experience
• ▹Excellence in your craft and relentlessness in pursuing it
• ▹Take full ownership of your work and drive projects to completion with minimal oversight
• ▹Communicate proactively, surfacing blockers, asking the right questions and keeping stakeholders in the loop
• ▹Strong fundamentals in system design, debugging and problem-solving
• ▹Experience with LLMs in production and an understanding of what it takes to deploy them at scale
• ▹Experience with AWS and serverless technologies (Lambda, EC2), asynchronous workflows and cloud environments
• ▹Knowledge of Python (the main stack), though strong candidates from other OO backgrounds are welcome
• ▹Comfort with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL

Nice to have

• ▹Experience with document pipelines and processing large amounts of data
