Design real-time, fault-tolerant RTOS/Linux-based flight computing systems resilient to radiation effects in space, applying deterministic networking protocols (TSN, PTP) across spacecraft subsystems.
Responsibilities
- ▹Design, implement and maintain real-time embedded computing systems for spacecraft avionics
- ▹Apply fault-tolerant computing techniques for radiation-induced upsets and anomalies
- ▹Develop and optimize RTOS and Linux-based real-time environments (kernel, bootloader, drivers)
- ▹Perform hardware design tasks using Altium Designer with radiation-tolerant practices
- ▹Develop, synthesize and validate FPGA designs (VHDL/Verilog) with TMR, ECC, scrubbing mitigation
- ▹Design, configure and troubleshoot IP networking protocols (TSN, PTP)
- ▹Conduct system integration, hardware/software debugging and fault injection testing
- ▹Collaborate with flight software, avionics and systems engineering teams
- ▹Support mission operations through anomaly resolution and post-flight radiation-effect analysis
Requirements
- ▹Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- ▹Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python for embedded software and automation
- ▹Hands-on experience with real-time systems and Linux-based embedded computing
- ▹Practical expertise in fault-tolerant computing methods (redundancy, checkpoint/restart)
- ▹Knowledge of IP networking protocols, direct experience with TSN and PTP
- ▹Understanding of radiation effects on electronics/software and mitigation strategies
- ▹Experience with system-level debugging tools and hardware/software integration
Nice to have
- ▹Low-level software development for Linux/RTOS, including bootloader and device drivers
- ▹Hardware design with Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro, multi-gigabit SERDES interfaces (SGMII, PCIe, Serial RapidIO)
- ▹Solid FPGA development background (VHDL/Verilog, synthesis, simulation)
- ▹Familiarity with modern multi-core ARM-based SoC hardware
- ▹Experience writing bare-metal code
- ▹Exposure to radiation testing (heavy-ion, proton, TID)
- ▹Background in hardware-software co-design for reliability
- ▹Prior hands-on experience supporting space missions
Soft skills
Cross-team collaboration with avionics and systems engineeringProblem-solving in complex debugging scenarios
What we offer
- ▹Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits
