Staff Frontend Engineer

Responsibilities

• ▹Build a clinical design system and component library from scratch
• ▹Modernize hospital workflows into fast, keyboard-driven, intuitive experiences
• ▹Render real-time clinical data (vitals, orders, labs, alerts) instantly over GraphQL, architecting the data/caching/subscription layer
• ▹Engineer resilient, accessible, performant interfaces that hold up under degraded networks
• ▹Turn dense clinical and operational data into clear, decision-ready interfaces
• ▹Define frontend patterns, state management, and rendering architecture from first principles

Requirements

• ▹Minimum 10 years of professional software engineering experience with a deep frontend focus
• ▹Expertise across TypeScript, JavaScript, React, HTML, CSS, browser internals, rendering performance, state management, and real-time GraphQL UIs
• ▹Comfortable adopting new tools (Elixir/Erlang, Phoenix, Postgres, AWS on the backend)
• ▹Experience with client-side data loading and management (caching, freshness, optimizing push updates)
• ▹Understanding of the browser rendering cycle and DOM repainting, with a profiling instinct
• ▹Well-versed in modern React patterns and functional programming, including custom hooks
• ▹Deep fluency with async JavaScript control flow (Promises, async/await), diagnosing race conditions
• ▹Strong ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team
• ▹Exceptional problem-solving skills
• ▹Intellectually curious with a growth mindset
• ▹Familiarity with open-source technology
• ▹Experience building 0-1
• ▹Excellent communication skills
