Knowledge Engineer / Ontologist (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

• ▹Model knowledge: talk with subject-matter experts, understand their domain knowledge and translate it into formal, semantic models
• ▹Build bridges: act as the central translator between business departments and the engineering team, ensuring the knowledge model reflects business reality while being technically excellent
• ▹Shape concepts: design and facilitate workshops to build a shared understanding (a Shared Language) of core business concepts with stakeholders
• ▹Integrate data sources: work closely with the engineering team to conceptually support connecting databases, APIs and other sources to the Knowledge Graph
• ▹Develop and maintain ontologies: use standards like OWL/RDF to build the model and define the logical rules and constraints that ensure the quality and consistency of the Knowledge Graph

Requirements

• ▹Passion for structure and logic: abstract thinking, turning complex relationships into clear, formal structures
• ▹Modeling experience, e.g. with UML or ideally already with semantic technologies (RDF, OWL)
• ▹Strong communication skills: able to explain complex technical and logical models clearly to both business experts and developers
• ▹Basic technical understanding of how data flows through systems, including APIs, databases and data pipelines

Nice to have

• ▹Initial experience with graph technologies, e.g. SPARQL, Cypher
