Student Assistant – Backend Development of Security/Hacking Tools (C/C++)

Fraunhofer SIT's Secure Software Engineering research group is building a modern fuzzing infrastructure to automatically detect software vulnerabilities. The student assistant helps deploy and extend existing fuzzers and build an exploit database.

Stack

Responsibilities

  • Deploying existing fuzzers to test popular software (e.g. Firefox, Chrome, Adobe Reader) on x86
  • Extending existing fuzzers by implementing techniques from recent scientific publications
  • Building an exploit database that tracks vulnerable software versions and exploits

Requirements

  • Computer science studies with practical software development experience
  • Creativity, self-motivation and enthusiasm
  • Very good programming skills
  • Good knowledge of C/C++ and related toolchains such as compilers and debuggers

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of fuzzing
