Controls Engineer

Eaton is seeking a Controls Engineer for its Waukesha, WI plant to support test and assembly process development. The role includes PLC/HMI programming, Ignition SCADA systems, and building interfaces between SQL databases and production systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidelines for test equipment design and selection; develop testing protocols and data collection programs
  • Support, service, and troubleshoot controls for production equipment, test equipment, and electrical systems
  • Develop test equipment specifications ensuring compliance with electrical safe work practices and OSHA requirements
  • Identify and remediate potential safety hazards
  • Develop interfaces between SQL databases and production systems
  • Perform root cause and failure analysis using critical thinking and problem solving
  • Develop Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) for new products or process initiatives
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools to solve cross-functional manufacturing problems
  • Lead/co-lead projects, developing goals, budgets, and work breakdown structures

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum five years of Controls/Test engineering experience
  • Experience with programming software (Visual Basic/Studio, SQL, Microsoft applications)
  • Experience with Rockwell Software (RSLogix 5/500/5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME/SE)
  • Experience with PLC and HMI programming and safety systems design
  • Willingness to relocate to or reside within 50 miles of Waukesha, WI

Nice to have

  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical equipment at component and system level
  • Ability to apply NFPA 70E electrical safe work practices
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical control, protection, and metering schematics
  • Experience supporting an Engineered-to-Order (ETO) manufacturing plant
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Daily experience with NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand
  • Experience developing with Ignition SCADA
