Staff Software Engineer

Qualcomm is looking for a Staff Software Engineer for its data center platforms, contributing to Linux kernel development, virtualization (KVM), scheduling, and memory management (IOMMU), leading a team of engineers, and shaping security architecture and product security risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance Linux Kernel features (virtualization/KVM, scheduling, memory management/IOMMU)
  • Optimize power and performance management technologies (e.g. DVFS) for ARM-based systems
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver high-performance, scalable software solutions
  • Debug complex software issues using tools like JTAG debuggers
  • Contribute to upstream open-source projects, including the Linux Kernel
  • Document system architecture and requirements
  • Pre-silicon development on FPGA-based platforms and QEMU
  • Perform security risk assessments, threat analysis, and security code reviews
  • Lead security architectures and product security initiatives across cross-organizational teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's + 4 years, Master's + 3 years, or PhD + 2 years of software engineering or related experience
  • 2+ years of experience with a programming language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, with 6+ years of software development experience
  • Strong experience in Linux Kernel development (virtualization/KVM, schedulers, memory management, device trees)
  • Solid knowledge of ARMv8 and ARMv9 architecture
  • Understanding of computer system architecture (core, cache, memory models, bus architecture)
  • Experience in board/SoC bringup, device drivers, peripheral buses (SPI, I2C, USB), DDR memory controllers
  • Familiarity with SCM tools (Git) and debugging technologies (JTAG debuggers)
  • Prior contributions to open-source projects
