Staff HITL Engineer/Lab Manager, Connected Warfare

Anduril Industries is hiring a Staff HITL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) Engineer and Lab Manager for its Connected Warfare division, focused on developmental and operational testing of software-enabled defense systems. The role leads automated test campaigns, architects and builds the HITL lab, and trains Army end users, while managing execution, tooling, and cross-functional coordination for the test program.

Responsibilities

  • Lead automated software testing campaigns for Connected Warfare systems, including Lattice, the Army's Next Generation Command and Control systems, and the Menace family of systems.
  • Plan, develop, and execute automated testing strategies and frameworks aligned with operational requirements and realistic scenarios.
  • Work with program management, test leads, and engineering leadership to define requirements, schedules, and test campaign milestones.
  • Architect, physically build, and test the HITL lab, and train Army end users on its use.
  • Oversee test data collection and initial data analysis for the system under test.
  • Automate issue investigation and drive process improvements.
  • Analyze automated test results, track performance trends, and recommend enhancements.
  • Manage test environments and coordinate with external agencies to facilitate testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field (equivalent experience accepted).
  • 8+ years of experience testing Command & Control (C2) software and hardware systems in both lab and operational environments, including RF communications, tactical datalinks, tactical radios, and network capture and analysis.
  • Experience with requirements development, test planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Experience integrating and testing across various datalink architectures, networks, user interfaces, and hardware.
  • Experience with requirements-based verification, with a strong emphasis on automated testing.
  • Involvement in managing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Linux-based systems and the command line.
  • Experience building software/scripts in languages such as Go, Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with human-readable data serialization languages such as YAML.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret-level security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with the Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Knowledge of hardware testing techniques, test equipment, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-705, MIL-STD-1553/1773, MIL-STD-1760, AS5653, or similar standards.
  • Experience planning and executing EMI/EMC test plans per MIL-STD, DO-160, or IEC standards.
  • Experience with automated testing tools such as Netropy, iperf, tc, Netdata, and NATS.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
