Engineering Manager, Subscriptions

Responsibilities

• ▹Facilitate the delivery of initiatives to a high standard from initial concept and planning through to rollout, collaborating with engineers and non-technical colleagues
• ▹Manage and coach the engineers in the team so they develop personally and professionally and perform together with impact
• ▹Partner with the team's Product Manager to create a roadmap for success and ensure the team works in the right way for maximum, sustainable impact
• ▹Drive improvements to the team's processes and practices, with autonomy to change what isn't working
• ▹Have oversight of technical decisions made in the team and responsibility for the technical strategy within the product area
• ▹Contribute to the role of metrics within Paddle's wider data strategy
• ▹Help continuously improve the reliability and scalability of Paddle's high-traffic, event-driven system
• ▹Work with other Engineering leaders, contributing to the department's engineering principles and practices

Requirements

• ▹Experience with Go or similar languages
• ▹At least 2 years of management experience with several direct reports
• ▹Proven experience as a senior software engineer, working on complex, large-scale, cloud-based systems
• ▹A strong and demonstrable understanding of what it means to be a high-performing and sustainable engineering team
• ▹Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable leading technical discussions with engineers and non-technical colleagues
• ▹Specific experience building products that handle payments, transfers, and financial reconciliation
• ▹An interest in getting into the details and understanding the mechanics of money movements
• ▹Comfortable working closely with financial, risk, and legal stakeholders, ensuring systems are reliable, compliant, and can scale
