Experienced FPGA Developer

Software Engineer • On-site • Full-time United States Rancho Santa Margarita, USA

CS Group USA, a subsidiary of CS Group, develops and certifies safety-critical systems for the U.S. aerospace industry. The company is looking for an experienced FPGA developer to act as technical lead for real-time, embedded and safety-critical FPGA design, development and testing on complex electronic-hardware projects.

Stack

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across real-time, embedded and safety-critical FPGA design, development and testing
  • Drive issue resolution with technical expertise and consistent follow-through
  • Mentor less experienced team members on best practices, communication and project discipline
  • Collaborate with software engineers
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project plans, including timelines, milestones and resource allocation
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Coordinate FPGA development activities: build project plans, estimate workload, allocate tasks, track progress
  • Design, implement and verify FPGA/CPLD hardware
  • Perform requirements analysis and detailed design
  • Develop HDL code (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog), simulation environments and verification tests
  • Use FPGA tools for synthesis, simulation and integration

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related science/engineering field
  • 7+ years of experience in VHDL FPGA logic design and development
  • Experience with FPGA tools and embedded systems
  • Familiarity with digital design tools such as Vivado, ModelSim
  • Experience with MicroSemi FPGA architecture
  • Experience with serial communication protocols such as I2C, SPI or PCIe
  • Hands-on experience with hardware test equipment: oscilloscopes, spectrum/logic analyzers, power meters
  • U.S. citizenship required; dual citizenship must be disclosed
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build trust with internal teams
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work onsite in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
