CPU Performance Analysis Engineer (Multiple Locations)

Qualcomm's SoC Architecture team is looking for a CPU Performance Analysis Engineer to work on CPU performance analysis and tuning, projecting CPU roadmap performance, workload characterization, and competitive performance analysis using industry-standard benchmarks.

Responsibilities

  • Collect CPU performance data for various workloads and benchmarks
  • Conduct detailed workload characterization on silicon and performance simulators
  • Profile workload execution and develop single- and multi-threaded behavior models of industry-standard benchmarks
  • Develop tools and techniques to project SoC benchmark performance using CPU performance simulators and analytical models
  • Prepare benchmark projections for roadmap and competitive CPU/SoC comparison and analysis
  • Build competitive performance prediction models
  • Present competitive performance data concisely

Requirements

  • Strong grasp of computer architecture and OS fundamentals
  • Strong scripting skills (Bash / Perl / Python)
  • Proficiency in C / C++ / x86 and ARM-compatible assembly language
  • Familiarity with CPU performance models
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science and 4+ years of Systems Engineering experience (or Master's + 3 years, or PhD + 2 years)
  • 2+ years of experience in one or more system architecture technology areas (e.g., power systems, shared resource management, thermal limits)

Nice to have

  • Master's or PhD with 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with hardware performance profiling tools (Vtune, perf) and binary instrumentation tools (DynamoRio, PIN)
  • Experience characterizing industry-standard benchmarks (CPU2017, GeekBench, AnTuTu, Speedometer) and workloads (Memcached, NGINX, Redis, DCPerf)
  • Experience writing micro-benchmarks to measure CPU/SoC performance characteristics
  • Experience developing trace collection tools for CPU performance simulators
  • Knowledge of OS internals (Windows/Linux/Android), system programming, and compilers (GCC, LLVM, JIT)
  • Knowledge of the competitive landscape, features, and industry trends in server and client domains
