Embedded Software Developer (Embedded C++)

An Embedded Software Developer (Embedded C++) role within a medical device company's chronic dialysis product portfolio, developing and validating system and component requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop medical device products or product components within the chronic dialysis product portfolio
  • Create, analyze, and maintain functional and system concepts as well as system and component requirements
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on product architecture, technology, application, and system functionality
  • Present possible system designs based on defined system requirements and system architecture
  • Verify the system design using prototypes
  • Support other engineering disciplines and the V&V team in implementing, verifying, and validating requirements
  • Take responsibility for developing components containing the dialysis machine's business logic

Requirements

  • Confident English proficiency (minimum B2 level)

  • In-depth knowledge of various software architectures, design patterns, and programming paradigms
  • Experience in a technical lead or team lead role
  • Experience analyzing functional requirements and designing/modeling system architecture
  • Conscious and effective use of AI-based development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, LLMs)
  • At least 5 years of experience developing embedded systems
  • Knowledge of UML2

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of modern software development methodologies (e.g. SCRUM, TDD, Clean Code)
  • Experience in software design and development for medical devices
  • Experience designing and implementing state machine integration
  • Experience with code generation
  • Knowledge of various communication protocols (CAN, CAN-FD, SPI, I2C, UART)
  • Proficiency developing on STM32 microprocessors
  • At least 3 years of experience as a software architect in an international, distributed project team
  • Background in functional safety and information security
  • German language skills
  • Familiarity with the Enterprise Architect tool
  • Familiarity with Git (ideally GitHub)
  • Familiarity with SonarQube
  • Familiarity with Jira
  • User-level Linux knowledge
  • Knowledge of design patterns and practices (MVVM, dependency injection, etc.)
