Responsibilities

• ▹Ensure technology decisions continue to support a rapid growth trajectory
• ▹Establish governance and frameworks for measuring current status and roadmap progress
• ▹Establish and implement engineering principles and standards across the teams
• ▹Coordinate Wizz Air's current flagship digital project: migrating the website to a cloud native architecture while transforming the organisation
• ▹Manage the engineering effort for the website and the apps
• ▹Coordinate regular training sessions for business users
• ▹Perform assessments and benchmarking across the engineering teams
• ▹Manage the internal engineering managers
• ▹Directly manage 50+ external resources
• ▹Manage budget, time and developer resources
• ▹Manage multiple vendors and participate in IT tenders
• ▹Own the yearly and quarterly budgeting process
• ▹Form and manage the engineering strategy
• ▹Actively seek opportunities and embrace the ideation process

Requirements

• ▹5-7+ years of overall IT/engineering experience, with 5+ years in cloud or network-centric engineering roles
• ▹4+ years in engineering leadership or people management roles
• ▹Proven experience leading DNS, CDN, WAF, Bot Protection or EDGE platforms at scale
• ▹Experience working with global, highly available, internet-facing systems
• ▹Strong hands-on and architectural knowledge of DNS technologies (authoritative DNS, traffic steering, health checks)
• ▹Deep understanding of CDN concepts: caching strategies, origin protection, performance optimization, TLS and global traffic routing
• ▹Experience with Bot Protection, WAF and DDoS mitigation concepts and tooling
• ▹Strong expertise in AWS EDGE and networking services: Route 53, CloudFront, AWS Shield, AWS WAF and related services
• ▹Understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, HTTP/S, TLS, Anycast, latency-based routing
• ▹Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation
• ▹Familiarity with monitoring, observability and incident response in distributed systems
• ▹Bachelor's or Master's degree
• ▹Fluent English, both written and spoken
