Software Engineer L3

Twilio SendGrid's email platform processes over 12 billion emails during peak events; this L3 role is a hands-on backend engineer modernizing Go-based microservices and driving reliability across the dual-cloud AWS+Azure infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and ship reliable, high-velocity features with low end-to-end latency, partnering with product management and technical leadership
  • Drive rigorous code reviews and maintainable patterns in the Go codebase, ensuring high unit/integration/component testing standards
  • Manage and enhance cloud configurations across AWS and Azure using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Ensure deep observability by standardizing metrics, alerts and distributed tracing across core data pipelines
  • Advocate for a clean architectural foundation; identify technical debt, bottlenecks and single points of failure
  • Mentor junior engineers, lead technical sprint planning, share expertise across distributed engineering nodes

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating resilient backend services at scale
  • Practical experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude Code) to accelerate code generation, testing and debugging
  • Strong, hands-on production experience writing clean, idiomatic, highly concurrent Go (Golang), Java or Python
  • Solid experience deploying production workloads in cloud environments: AWS (EC2, S3, Aurora, DynamoDB) AND Microsoft Azure (VMs, Blob Storage, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB)
  • Proficiency with Terraform for provision-level automation
  • Strong understanding of distributed datastores, caching layers and asynchronous event streaming (Kafka)
  • Strong CS fundamentals, data structures, and building self-healing cloud architectures

Nice to have

  • Prior experience managing high-throughput containerized infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with database migration paths (e.g. on-prem relational datastores to AWS Aurora)
  • Experience implementing OpenTelemetry or distributed tracing across decoupled microservices
  • Direct experience with network topology, proxy layers or mail transfer agent (MTA) protocols
