Senior Developer Advocate, Developer Education

Temporal is hiring a Senior Developer Advocate for its Developer Education team to build exercise-first courses, video content, and AI-assisted learning that guides developers from first questions to production-grade Temporal applications.

Responsibilities

  • Help shape the education platform and direction of the learning experience
  • Design and build exercise-first courses, tutorials, and labs with hands-on examples at their core
  • Produce video content, including long-form walkthroughs and short-form clips
  • Build hands-on AI and agent content, including durable AI agent examples with Temporal
  • Design learning experiences reflecting modern, AI-assisted and hybrid developer workflows
  • Keep educational materials aligned with current product capabilities and architectural patterns
  • Build and maintain reference implementations, labs, and best-practices examples in Temporal SDK languages
  • Represent education at conferences and occasionally run workshops or training sessions
  • Partner with Solutions Architecture, Sales, Field Marketing, and Developer Success to create reusable educational assets
  • Support trainer and developer certification programs (competency definitions, assessments, iteration)
  • Collect and share developer feedback from trainings, events, and community channels

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering background with ability to build production-quality examples in Go, Java, TypeScript, Python, or .NET
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals: state management, fault tolerance, concurrency, event-driven architectures
  • Demonstrated experience creating high-quality technical education content (tutorials, workshops, courses, docs)
  • Clear, pragmatic communication with a storyteller's instinct for technical and mixed audiences
  • Ability to operate as a senior individual contributor, driving projects with minimal direction
  • Product and ownership instinct for the whole learner experience, not just individual assets
  • Comfort balancing execution with program-level, cross-functional thinking
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for conferences, trainings, and offsites

Nice to have

  • Experience with Temporal or another workflow orchestration system
  • Background in developer education, developer relations, or technical enablement
  • Open source contributions, especially in developer tooling or distributed systems
  • Experience building LLM-powered applications or AI agents and their reliability challenges
  • Experience with a learning management system (LMS) or building an education platform
  • Experience in a remote-first, globally distributed company
