Software Developer in Test, Air Defense

Software Engineer • On-site • Full-time United States Irvine, USA

Anduril's Air Defense team is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to design, develop and maintain automated test frameworks for backend systems, real-time data processing and command & control software, integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for backend systems, APIs and distributed components
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployments in secure cloud environments
  • Develop and execute test strategies (functional, integration, performance, reliability)
  • Conduct end-to-end testing of complete software stacks with cross-functional teams
  • Troubleshoot system issues via Linux expertise, log analysis and network debugging
  • Configure and manage virtualized/containerized test environments
  • Document test results, findings and resolutions

Requirements

  • 6+ years as SDET or Test Automation Engineer, focused on backend systems, APIs and microservices
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
  • Proficiency building test automation frameworks in Python, JavaScript, Go or C#
  • Experience creating and managing CI/CD pipelines
  • Advanced Linux expertise (scripting, configuration, log analysis)
  • Experience testing complex distributed and cloud-native systems
  • Strong collaboration/communication skills
  • Familiarity with defect tracking tools (Jira, TestRail)
  • Ability to obtain security clearance (US citizenship may be required)

Nice to have

  • Experience with Robot Framework or other keyword-driven test tools
  • Familiarity with observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, DataDog)
  • Knowledge of gRPC-based microservices testing
  • Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, K6)
  • Golang proficiency or willingness to learn
  • Exposure to HITL/SITL simulation environments
