Data Strategy Expert (Director) – Data Specialty Unit

Sopra Steria Next's data specialty unit is hiring a data strategy expert to design and deliver clients' data vision, acting as the link between the business, IT and senior management. The work takes place across France in a range of sectors.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Data strategy: build a data roadmap aligned with the company strategy, identify priority use cases (efficiency, innovation, profitability) and define data-related performance indicators (ROI, maturity, quality)
  • ▹Governance and compliance: set up a governance framework (roles, responsibilities, processes), ensure regulatory compliance (GDPR, ISO 27001, internal policies), oversee management of the data catalogue and traceability of data flows
  • ▹Architecture and valorisation: work with data architects to define target models (Data Mesh, Lakehouse, Data Hub), promote standardisation of models and pooling of platforms, support AI/ML and data science initiatives with suitable infrastructure
  • ▹Change management and data culture: spread data culture across business and IT teams, run communities of practice (Data Owners, Stewards, Analysts), lead training and communication on data

Requirements

  • ▹At least a Bac+5 degree (engineering school, business school or university specialised in data management, IT or strategy)
  • ▹7 to 15 years of experience in data, BI, governance or architecture
  • ▹Proven experience in strategic steering or digital transformation at large-group scale
  • ▹Governance: DMBOK, DCAM, GDPR, MDM, data quality and classification
  • ▹Architecture: Data Lake, Data Mesh, Data Hub, cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • ▹Tools: Collibra, Alation, Purview, Power BI, Databricks, Snowflake and similar
  • ▹Knowledge of analytical languages (SQL, Python) and data models (3NF, Data Vault and similar)

Nice to have

  • ▹Certifications such as DAMA-DMBOK, CDO Certified, TOGAF, DCAM or equivalent

Soft skills

Strategic vision and understanding of business challengesCross-functional leadership and clear communication with the executive committee and the businessAbility to prioritise, arbitrate and influence decisionsAnalytical mind, rigour and political sense
