Engineering Manager – Database (Hybrid remote)

Responsibilities

• ▹Manage a multi-member team
• ▹Consistently deliver in line with established action plans
• ▹Take an active part in day-to-day database administration
• ▹Ensure continuous database availability
• ▹Uphold the quality of processes, projects and systems agreed by the team
• ▹Suggest and help implement new processes and engineering best practices to improve personal and team performance
• ▹Communicate progress, achievements and areas for improvement to the team and management
• ▹Serve as a trusted technical advisor in one or more areas
• ▹Mentor less experienced database administrators
• ▹Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define action plans and manage competing priorities
• ▹Monitor team engagement and well-being indicators
• ▹Proactively identify and resolve performance challenges within the team
• ▹Support the development and career growth of team members
• ▹Participate in recruitment
• ▹Advocate for business and technical decisions made by the company within the team

Requirements

• ▹Extensive experience leading, mentoring and scaling technical teams
• ▹Proven track record of executing daily database management tasks, managing team capacity and balancing operational support with project delivery
• ▹Experience working with database principals or enterprise architects to implement global security policies, compliance requirements and engineering standards
• ▹Structured approach to incident management, query performance tracking and proactive database maintenance
• ▹Skill in translating high-level architecture and database designs into tasks, sprints and clear deliverables
• ▹Experience managing database infrastructure in cloud or hybrid environments
• ▹Openness to new management frameworks, agile methodologies and operational automation
• ▹Willingness to own the team's after-hours support rotation
• ▹Tech stack: MS SQL Server 2017 and newer, T-SQL, Amazon Web Services, Terraform, PowerShell, C#, .NET
