Responsibilities

• ▹Contribute to development and maintenance of Kong Gateway Operator and Ingress Controller
• ▹Deliver tasks meeting acceptance criteria, working on moderate-scope problems
• ▹Write readable, maintainable, tested code in Golang
• ▹Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, DevOps) on new features
• ▹Contribute to component design within a larger system
• ▹Debug and solve problems within your codebase area
• ▹Engage with the open-source community under senior team guidance

Requirements

• ▹1-2+ years of professional software engineering experience
• ▹Proficiency in Golang (or strong C/C++/Java/Python with willingness to learn Go)
• ▹Familiarity with Kubernetes architecture (Pods, Deployments, Services, CRDs)
• ▹Ability to deliver routine work with general instructions, tackle new projects with detailed instructions
• ▹Experience writing unit and integration tests
• ▹Strong learning mindset and self-awareness
• ▹Good communication in a distributed, remote-first team

Nice to have

• ▹Contributions to open-source projects, particularly cloud-native (Kubernetes, Envoy)
• ▹Basic understanding of API Gateways, Service Meshes, or Kubernetes Gateway API
• ▹Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
