Responsibilities

• ▹Lead hands-on independent validation of models used in credit decisioning (ML, decision science, NPV models)
• ▹Support oversight/validation of broader credit risk models (IFRS9, stress testing, economic response models)
• ▹Develop deep understanding of Monzo's credit models, providing impactful challenge to model developers
• ▹Review ongoing model performance monitoring against risk thresholds
• ▹Perform statistical analyses to independently assess model performance, developing challenger models
• ▹Improve the Model Risk Framework (policies, standards, procedures), keeping pace with regulation
• ▹Write clear, impactful validation reports and present to committees
• ▹Partner with credit strategy/modelling and wider risk teams
• ▹Lead adoption of AI tools to enhance model validation

Requirements

• ▹Strong background and practical experience in credit model development/validation, including ML/statistical models in credit decisioning
• ▹Data-driven with strong analytical skills and deep statistical understanding
• ▹Strong SQL and Python skills; data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker) a plus
• ▹Understanding of how models are used in real-time decisioning and lending strategy
• ▹Strong written/verbal communication, simplifying complex issues
• ▹Track record building trusting relationships at all levels, providing respectful challenge
• ▹Proactive in identifying issues and improvement opportunities
