Product Engineer

Other • On-site • Full-time • India India, India
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Product Engineer based in India. We are looking for a hands-on Product Engineer who combines product thinking, technical execution, and a strong customer-first mindset to turn real problems into impactful software solutions. In this role, you will own the entire product development cycle, from speaking directly with users and identifying opportunities to building, deploying, and measuring solutions in production. You will leverage AI-powered coding agents to accelerate development while applying your own judgment to architecture, quality, and product decisions. Working in a lean, fast-moving, and globally distributed team, you will have significant autonomy and direct exposure to product leadership. Rather than following predefined specifications, you will decide what needs to be built and take responsibility for the outcome. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys experimentation, rapid execution, and creating products that deliver measurable value to customers. How Jobgether works: We use an AI-powered matching process to ensure your application is reviewed quickly, objectively, and fairly against the role's core requirements. Our system identifies the top-fitting candidates, and this shortlist is then shared directly with the hiring company. The final decision and next steps (interviews, assessments) are managed by their internal team. We appreciate your interest and wish you the best! Why Apply Through Jobgether? Data Privacy Notice: By submitting your application, you acknowledge that Jobgether will process your personal data to evaluate your candidacy and share relevant information with the hiring employer. This processing is based on legitimate interest and pre-contractual measures under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR). You may exercise your rights (access, rectification, erasure, objection) at any time. #LI-CL1 Accountabilities: Customer Discovery and Problem Identification: Speak with users regularly to understand their challenges, gather feedback, analyze support conversations, and identify opportunities for product improvements. Product Decision-Making: Translate customer insights, usage data, sales feedback, and churn patterns into clear product priorities. Identify the most valuable problems to solve and determine the simplest effective solutions. End-to-End Product Development: Take ownership of the complete development lifecycle, from defining requirements and scoping solutions to building, testing, deploying, and iterating based on real-world usage. AI-Assisted Engineering: Use AI-powered coding agents to accelerate software development, guide implementation, review generated code, challenge assumptions, and ensure the quality and reliability of delivered solutions. Product Ownership: Independently manage a specific product area from concept to production, taking responsibility for its performance, customer experience, and measurable business outcomes. Quality Assurance and Code Review: Validate AI-generated code, review every change, identify potential weaknesses, test assumptions, and ensure that all delivered solutions meet production standards. Deployment and Release Management: Ship product improvements to real customers, using feature flags and controlled releases when appropriate to minimize risk and monitor impact. Production Reliability: Investigate and resolve production issues, understand underlying system behavior, and continuously improve application stability and performance. Technical System Ownership: Develop a strong understanding of the underlying data models, APIs, integrations, and WhatsApp infrastructure that support the platform. Continuous Measurement and Improvement: Monitor product usage, customer feedback, and support requests after releases. Evaluate whether solutions achieve their intended outcomes and decide whether to improve, maintain, or remove them. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with company leadership and other team members in a remote environment, communicating decisions, raising concerns early, and maintaining momentum without relying on extensive specifications or supervision. Requirements: Between 2 and 5 years of experience in software engineering, product management, a founder's office, or building and operating your own startup. Strong product intuition and the ability to identify usability issues, recognize customer pain points, and understand what makes a product experience effective. Demonstrable experience building and shipping real products, internal tools, or automation solutions using AI-powered development tools. Practical experience with AI coding agents and the ability to direct, evaluate, and improve AI-generated implementations rather than relying on them without review. A strong execution mindset, with the ability to independently identify problems, find solutions, and move projects forward without waiting for detailed specifications or constant guidance. Interest in developing deeper technical expertise, particularly in production systems, software architecture, APIs, data models, and application infrastructure. Ability to take ownership of software from initial concept through deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance development speed, technical quality, and customer needs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical and product decisions, communicate uncertainty, and collaborate effectively in remote teams. A proactive, adaptable, and entrepreneurial mindset, with a genuine interest in building products and delivering measurable results. Candidates from different professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply , including: Software engineers who prioritize customer problems and product outcomes over working exclusively within a specific technology stack. Product managers who want to move beyond writing specifications and take direct ownership of building and shipping solutions. Founder's office professionals or startup operators who enjoy working across multiple functions and want to develop their software-building capabilities. Former founders who want to return to product development in a lean environment with greater execution speed and fewer organizational barriers. Important Role Expectations: This position requires broad ownership rather than responsibility for a narrowly defined function. You should be comfortable making product and technical decisions independently. AI agents are development tools, not substitutes for engineering judgment. You remain accountable for reviewing, testing, and maintaining everything they generate. This role is best suited to someone who enjoys ambiguity, rapid experimentation, direct customer interaction, and responsibility for production outcomes. Benefits: Fully remote working arrangement for candidates based in India. Full-time opportunity within a lean, fast-growing, and profitable technology business. Significant autonomy and end-to-end ownership of product development initiatives. Direct collaboration with senior company leadership, including the CTO and CEO. Opportunity to work extensively with AI coding agents and modern AI-assisted development workflows. Exposure to real customer problems and the opportunity to influence product direction directly. Fast development and deployment cycles, allowing ideas to move from concept to production within days rather than months. Opportunity to develop expertise across product strategy, software engineering, AI automation, and production infrastructure. High-impact role where individual contributions directly influence customer experience and business outcomes. Collaborative, entrepreneurial environment with minimal bureaucracy and strong emphasis on initiative, learning, and execution. Recruitment Process Shortlisted candidates can expect a three-step interview process: Initial Conversation – Asynchronous: Discuss your previous work, product decisions, and experience with the CTO through WhatsApp. Practical Build Session – 90 minutes: Work on a real product challenge, taking it from an initial brief to a working solution alongside the CTO. Final Conversation – 20 minutes: Discuss the opportunity, expectations, and mutual fit with the CEO.
