Software Engineer - Infrastructure

Backend Developer • Remote • Full-time • 📍 San Mateo

As an Infrastructure Engineer on Skydio's Cloud team, you'll support the company's Kubernetes fleet while also making changes to the core product, shaping architecture, security and functionality across the stack.

Responsibilities

  • Re-architect and maintain the growing Kubernetes fleet and its supporting infrastructure
  • Continually improve and expand the product's continuous delivery
  • Work in cross-functional teams, from hardware to cloud, to build new platform capabilities
  • Work directly with security to continually improve practices and controls that keep customer data and drones safe
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives early in the product lifecycle

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Production Engineer, SRE, DevOps or equivalent infrastructure role
  • Comfortable debugging and automating Kubernetes clusters
  • Willing to dive into code to fix the underlying issue (Python or Go preferred)
  • Prior experience implementing continuous deployment systems
  • Understanding of cloud platform architecture, especially networking, security, storage and resilient topologies
  • Ability to meet U.S. person status/access requirements due to export-controlled technical data

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with supporting both SaaS and self-hosted applications
  • Experience supporting drones or highly automated physical hardware
