Engineering Manager, (Apple/Android), SDK

Mobile Developer • Remote • Full-time • 📍 Vienna

Technical engineering manager role leading one of Sentry's Mobile SDK teams (Apple or Android), owning technical direction, team health, and the quality of a widely used open-source SDK.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of 4–6 engineers — managing performance, career growth, recruiting, and onboarding
  • Own the technical direction and roadmap for the SDK team, ensuring scalable, reliable, high-quality SDKs
  • Stay hands-on: review code, contribute to architecture discussions, and unblock engineers on hard problems
  • Drive execution: scope work, allocate resources, set milestones, and remove blockers
  • Improve engineering processes, leveraging AI tools and workflows
  • Track the metrics that matter to catch issues early and monitor team/SDK health
  • Communicate clearly in all directions: represent the team to leadership, align with product and engineering partners

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer, with a strong focus on mobile (iOS and/or Android), ideally in SDK development or developer tooling
  • 2+ years of engineering management experience
  • Technical fluency: comfortable reviewing code, driving architecture decisions, earning team trust, and leveraging AI tools
  • Experience owning a significant product area end-to-end
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Based in the Vienna area or willing to relocate

Nice to have

  • Experience with both Apple and Android platforms
  • Cross-platform experience (React Native, Flutter)

What we offer

  • Legally required minimum wage of EUR 74,214 gross/year (IT-KV collective agreement)
