Infra Engineer - Datacenters

Responsibilities

• ▹Build application-level code (Golang, gRPC, Postgres, etc.)
• ▹Make use of OS primitives (syscalls, cgroups, etc.)
• ▹Deliver projects 0 to N: lead it, scale it, own the outcome
• ▹Operate with agency and urgency, including remotely
• ▹Ship for today, design for 10x, and engineer for 100x within 18 months
• ▹Communicate clearly using RFCs/docs to break up and deliver large, nebulous tasks
• ▹Be on call (expect 1-2 weeks per quarter)
• ▹Build monitoring, alerts and dashboards to catch issues before they break things
• ▹Stretch projects: procuring and designing $1m+ of datacenter hardware, managing global supply chains, designing rack-level layouts for efficiency, building automated inventory systems up to PXE bootstrapping

Requirements

• ▹Application-level development experience (Golang, gRPC, Postgres)
• ▹Hands-on experience with OS-level primitives (syscalls, cgroups)
• ▹Proven track record delivering projects from 0 to N, leading and scaling them
• ▹Ability to operate with agency and urgency, including on-call rotations (1-2 weeks per quarter)
• ▹Experience building monitoring, alerting and dashboard systems
• ▹Strong written communication (RFCs, docs) to break down large tasks

Nice to have

• ▹Designing and procuring $1m+ of hardware for datacenters
• ▹Managing and orchestrating global supply chains
• ▹Designing rack-level layouts for optimal efficiency (heat/energy)
• ▹Building automated inventory management systems up to PXE bootstrapping
