Infrastructure Engineer

Responsibilities

• ▹Bring technical breadth across SRE, DevOps, Infrastructure, and Platform work, with deep focus on one substantial initiative at a time (on-call posture, release pipeline, multi-region Terraform layout, internal platform surface)
• ▹Challenge the status quo and remove toil before adding features: automate operational tasks with Python or Go, treat manual on-call work as a defect to be designed out
• ▹Design scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure across AWS (preferred), GCP, and Azure, working fluently with Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform
• ▹Run AI agents (Claude Code, Droid, Codex, internal skills) in the daily loop to investigate incidents, draft Terraform/Helm changes, and scaffold tooling and runbooks
• ▹Lead incident response, post-mortems, and root-cause analyses, applying learnings back into the architecture
• ▹Own the reliability, performance, and efficiency of WRITER's core services end to end: define SLOs and error budgets, carry the on-call pager
• ▹Balance this week's critical work with the 6-12 month platform direction
• ▹Collaborate with product, security, and engineering peers on system design for reliability, performance, and scalability

Requirements

• ▹5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a similar role operating large-scale, high-availability production systems at a high-growth company
• ▹Experience running containerization in production, with Helm and Terraform or Pulumi on at least one major cloud (AWS preferred), plus proficiency in Python or Go
• ▹AI is part of your daily workflow, not just something you've read about: agentic tooling (Claude Code, Droid, Codex, internal skills) is in your daily loop — a hard requirement, not a bonus
• ▹Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo, proactively identify systemic weaknesses, and reason about tradeoffs in business terms
• ▹Bias toward reversible decisions, writing the rollback plan before touching production, fluency with monitoring and logging stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK or equivalent)
• ▹Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, strong relationship-building across teams
• ▹Strong ownership and accountability, with at least one 0-to-1 infrastructure build owned end to end with an attached outcome metric

Nice to have

• ▹A software-engineering background beyond config and scripting: designing and shipping non-trivial production code (services, libraries, internal frameworks) in Python, Go, or a comparable language
