Software Engineer, Infrastructure

Backend Developer • On-site • Full-time • 📍 San Francisco

On the Infrastructure team, own the foundational cloud and networking layer every Cursor service runs on: network foundations, container orchestration, edge and security infrastructure, and production compute runtimes.

Responsibilities

  • Own Kubernetes and cluster foundations, building and operating production clusters with service mesh, scaling, and ingress
  • Design the geo-deployment architecture for replicable, robust multi-region, multi-provider deployments
  • Build edge and security infrastructure for abuse protection, rate limiting, and traffic routing
  • Own cost management and optimization, building attribution systems and eliminating waste across cloud spend
  • Unify the compute platform with a single, opinionated container orchestration strategy

Requirements

  • Deep experience with AWS (or comparable cloud providers), especially VPC networking, EKS/K8s, and IAM/account management
  • Experience building and operating production Kubernetes clusters at scale, including service mesh, autoscaling, and multi-region deployments
  • Understanding of edge networking, CDN/WAF architectures, and traffic management
  • Care for infrastructure-as-code and reproducibility so other teams can self-serve reliable infrastructure
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals

  • Experience with cost optimization at scale
  • Experience with infrastructure migration or unification
