Backup Platform SRE Engineer (all humans)

Our more than 2,000 IT experts and enthusiasts are the bank's Digital Muscle. What to do: Design, implement and continuously improve our enterprise backup solutions and platform capabilities. Provide Level 3 technical expertise and support for IBM Storage Protect, Veeam and DataDomain infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents and problems, identifying and eliminating root causes rather than only addressing symptoms. Own the reliability, availability and performance of backup services and continuously improve them against defined SLAs and SLOs. Implement monitoring, alerting and observability to provide clear insight into the health, capacity and performance of backup services. Automate operational activities, provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, scripting or similar technologies. Develop self-service capabilities and standardized solutions to reduce manual activities and improve the experience of internal customers. Collaborate with infrastructure, application, database and cloud teams to design and implement effective backup, recovery and disaster recovery strategies. Act as a technical advisor to the Product Owner, challenge existing solutions where appropriate, advocate for high-quality engineering standards, and drive informed technical decisions. Proactively evaluate the current platform, identify technical debt and opportunities for improvement, research emerging technologies, and recommend solutions that improve reliability, efficiency and scalability. Participate in disaster recovery planning, backup recovery exercises and resilience testing. Define and maintain standards, best practices and reusable patterns for backup and recovery. Create and maintain high-quality operational and technical documentation, including runbooks and recovery procedures. Participate in an on-call support rotation and contribute to improving operational readiness and reducing recurring incidents. Contribute to SRE practices such as automation, observability, incident management, problem management, capacity planning and continuous improvement.
