Mobile Staff Engineer, Platform/Infrastructure (all genders)
HelloFresh's HelloTech organisation in Warsaw is looking for a Staff Mobile Engineer in the Consumer Foundations tribe to provide technical leadership for the evolution of its mobile platform. This high-visibility role contributes to transitioning a white-labeled, multi-brand application from a native brownfield React Native setup to a highly scalable greenfield architecture, combining hands-on engineering with technical leadership to enable a growing team of 50+ mobile engineers. The stack includes React Native, iOS (Swift), Android (Kotlin), monorepos, shared npm packages, Bitrise, Expo, Honeycomb and Maestro.
Responsibilities
- ▹Shape the architectural direction and contribute to the brownfield-to-greenfield React Native migration within a white-labeled, multi-brand application ecosystem.
- ▹Design and evolve the long-term scalability and developer experience of the React Native monorepo, enabling concurrent development for 50+ mobile engineers.
- ▹Maintain and scale the monorepo to host shared npm packages for future cross-platform code sharing with web repositories.
- ▹Maintain and optimize CI/CD pipelines in Bitrise while helping shape the future migration to Expo.
- ▹Build robust tracing and dashboards in Honeycomb and establish and scale end-to-end testing using Maestro.
- ▹Partner with Engineering Managers and Product stakeholders to review technical solutions and promote engineering best practices across squads.
- ▹Improve application health and reliability through observability tooling, performance reporting, incident response practices and operational guardrails.
- ▹Facilitate architectural decision-making with the appropriate level of documentation, from lightweight design proposals to RFCs and ADRs.
Requirements
- ▹Deep, production-tested React Native expertise, with strong knowledge of both iOS and Android internals, performance profiling, native code bridging and app store release processes.
- ▹Hands-on experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) in production or near-production work, with strong context-engineering skills.
- ▹Proven track record managing and optimizing workflows, linting, caching and build times for large engineering organizations (50+ developers).
- ▹Experience managing complex build configurations, white-label scaling and monorepo architectures.
- ▹High autonomy and accountability, with sound technical decisions in ambiguity and support during complex production incidents.
- ▹Proven ability to influence technical direction across multiple engineering teams through expertise and collaboration.
