Senior Data Engineer

Data Engineer • Remote • Full-time • United Kingdom United Kingdom, United Kingdom

About the company

Our client is a fast-growing software company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Lead the design and delivery of data pipelines and the data model behind a software platform, staying hands-on while stepping into technical leadership. Over time the role adds mentoring a small group of engineers and influencing long-term data architecture, reporting directly to the CTO.

What you'll do

- Develop and run Python-based ingestion pipelines that move customer information into specialized storage for search and retrieval.

- Integrate additional data sources, such as cloud data warehouses and common business applications.

- Shape the data model so that retrieval and automated reasoning stay dependable across complex datasets.

- Take responsibility for the full lifecycle of your work, spanning data, deployment tooling and cloud infrastructure.

- Gradually move from mostly individual contribution to a blend that includes coaching teammates and guiding architecture decisions.

- Work closely with the CTO and a small, flat team on frequent calls.

What we're looking for

- Roughly 6 to 10 years of professional data engineering experience.

- Strong Python skills for building and maintaining ETL/ELT workflows in production.

- A track record of designing, deploying and operating reliable data pipelines.

- Background supporting machine learning or AI-driven features in live environments.

- Working knowledge, conceptual or hands-on, of graph databases and vector stores.

- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred), infrastructure as code, CI/CD and cloud security practices.

- Existing right to work in the UK or EU.

- Willingness to travel to in-person team gatherings roughly every two months.

Bonus points

- Prior time as an early or founding engineer at a startup, ideally in B2B software.

- Exposure to finance-related systems or domains such as planning, accounting or business analytics.

- Interest in growing into a team lead.
