Backend Engineer, Consumer Alliance

A Backend Engineer role in HelloFresh's HelloTech organization (Warsaw), within the Loyalty & Virality Tribe that owns the HelloFresh Rewards and Loyalty ecosystem. The high-cadence team is focused on Loyalty Member ROI, building reasons for millions of users to engage with their reward points and feel valued throughout their journey.

Responsibilities

▹Design and ship features across the Loyalty and Rewards domain that encourage members to earn, track and spend their points
▹Design, develop and deploy high-performance, scalable backend services and APIs
▹Ensure end-to-end delivery by collaborating closely with frontend/mobile engineering teams
▹Maintain an aggressive development cadence, turning hypotheses into live experiments in days
▹Contribute to the hypothesis backlog, helping decide what is built based on customer behavior data

Requirements

▹Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience building and deploying scalable backend services
▹Proficiency in Go and/or PHP preferred; JVM languages (Java, Kotlin) with willingness to learn Golang also welcome
▹Strong background in microservices and distributed systems
▹Meaningful experience using AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as part of regular workflow
▹Habits around verification and understanding of where AI assistance needs closer supervision

Nice to have

▹Familiarity with cloud technologies
▹Curiosity about how and why AI tools fail
