Engineering Manager, Hands-on - Subscription
Back Market is a global marketplace for refurbished devices. This Engineering Manager, Hands-on (Tech Lead Manager) role leads the Subscriptions squad, which is building Back Market's next growth engine: a suite of device protection and repair services delivered through subscription plans, retention flows, and personalized experiences. As TLM, you lead a team of 5 while continuing to contribute technically, spanning the subscription platform, Services hub, and payment systems.
Responsibilities
- ▹Lead a collaborative team of 5 people in delivering great software customers will love
- ▹Collaborate within the product engineering department to align the team with company objectives
- ▹Build strong roadmaps balancing long-term strategic initiatives with short-term tactical bets
- ▹Demonstrate a broad understanding of the global architecture and how the team's domains fit within it
- ▹Consistently deliver code that sets the standard for quality and maintainability
- ▹Ensure the development of people through ongoing coaching and mentoring
- ▹Create a team environment of belonging, open communication, and a feedback culture
- ▹Work in an agile build-it-and-run-it environment where teams build, launch, monitor, and support what they own
Requirements
- ▹Experience and passion for growing, developing, and guiding people
- ▹Enjoyment of managing a team while continuing to contribute technically
- ▹Openness to receiving and giving feedback in a safe workplace
- ▹Experience working in agile development teams with knowledge of the tech stack: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, RESTful API, Python, Django, VueJS, Nuxt, Datadog
- ▹Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- ▹A problem-solving attitude comfortable navigating ambiguous situations with data and a user-centric focus
- ▹A growth-hacking mindset that runs experiments and leverages learnings to build more value
