Master Thesis: Integrating Quantum-Computing with Classical Compute for Telecom

Other • On-site • Internship • Sweden Stockholm, Sweden

A six-month Master's thesis for one student at Ericsson Research in Stockholm (Kista), starting January 2027. The topic is integrated quantum-classical data flows in a RAN setting.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Review quantum algorithms for RAN workloads, with emphasis on the capabilities of integrated quantum-classical systems
  • ▹Select a representative RAN use case and define the research question, target capabilities and evaluation metrics
  • ▹Prepare data and experimental scenarios that reflect RAN workloads and suit state-of-the-art quantum computers
  • ▹Implement conventional baselines and define the corresponding key performance indicators
  • ▹Develop and validate a quantum computing architecture focused on a selected capability such as latency, portability or robust processing
  • ▹Evaluate the proposed architecture against the baselines using the defined metrics
  • ▹Assess hardware suitability by analyzing qubit requirements, circuit depth, compilation overhead and quantum-classical interconnect latency
  • ▹Document the proposed solution, methodology and evaluation results

Requirements

  • ▹MSc student in Computer Science, Engineering Physics, Machine Learning or Mathematics
  • ▹Proficient in probability theory, neural networks, system modeling and quantum computing
  • ▹Understanding of quantum computers (superconducting, neutral atoms, trapped ion) and software stacks (Qiskit, CUDA-Q, PennyLane, etc.)
  • ▹Good programming skills, knowledge of C++ and Python
