Experienced Software Engineer / ML Engineer in Education (Remote)

Responsibilities

• ▹Agree the next development steps for the ILP platform with the product owner and build the platform together with colleagues
• ▹Steer the technical build-out and expansion of the platform
• ▹Take responsibility for the technical implementation of enhancement requests
• ▹Work with IT and everyone needed to operate the software
• ▹Take responsibility for building up the technology stack

Requirements

• ▹At least 5 years of software development experience, ideally with several production applications or platforms
• ▹Very good Python skills and solid backend experience (e.g. Ruby on Rails, Django, FastAPI or comparable frameworks)
• ▹Experience with cloud and infrastructure topics such as Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Terraform, AWS or Azure
• ▹Proven practice implementing ML, NLP or data-driven applications (e.g. classification, RAG, embeddings, pipelines, model integration)
• ▹Independent, structured way of working with high quality standards and confident communication with the team and business units
• ▹Experience in technical leadership, mentoring, architecture decisions or close collaboration with product owners and stakeholders

Nice to have

• ▹Experience with LLM-based product features, prompting, retrieval systems or multi-step AI workflows
• ▹Software development experience from before the current GenAI boom, with an eye for maintainability, architecture and realistic product maturity
• ▹Experience in complex domains such as education, didactics, knowledge management, healthcare, data platforms or regulated environments
