Principal Backend Engineer - Core

Stack

Responsibilities

• ▹Act as a technical point of contact for various stakeholders
• ▹Lead from the front in coding and architecture
• ▹Partner with Engineering and Product leadership to shape roadmaps
• ▹Mobilise the team around high-impact problems
• ▹Lead architectural direction for the most complex systems
• ▹Uphold a high bar for quality, readability and scalability
• ▹Mentor and develop senior engineers
• ▹Resolve cross-team technical dependencies before they become blockers
• ▹Champion AI-assisted development practices across the team

Requirements

• ▹Demonstrable experience at staff or principal level
• ▹Deep backend expertise designing and building distributed systems at scale
• ▹Understanding of Core account infrastructure and geolocation flows
• ▹Strong written and verbal communication, including with non-technical stakeholders
• ▹Hands-on daily use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor)
• ▹Degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience (10+ years)
