At Bitpanda you will help design and scale the trading and pricing infrastructure that powers investing across crypto, stocks, ETFs, metals, and fiat currencies. In this role you will build high-performance backend systems in Rust while using Python for tooling and services that support the broader platform ecosystem. You will work on low-latency, event-driven systems that enable fast, reliable, and seamless trading experiences for millions of users.
Responsibilities
- ▹Build and scale high-performance backend systems in Rust that power Bitpanda's trading and pricing infrastructure
- ▹Develop microservices and internal tooling using Python across a distributed systems environment
- ▹Design clean, reliable, and maintainable solutions within an event-driven architecture
- ▹Work on real-time systems handling market data, pricing, hedging, and asset management across multiple asset classes
- ▹Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system scalability, reliability, and performance
Requirements
- ▹4+ years of backend engineering experience building scalable, production-grade systems
- ▹Strong hands-on experience with Rust, plus solid working knowledge of Python
- ▹Experience with distributed systems, asynchronous programming, and event-driven architectures
- ▹Familiarity with REST APIs, websockets, relational and/or NoSQL databases, and messaging systems such as Kafka or ZeroMQ
Nice to have
- ▹Experience with AWS, trading platforms, or market data systems
- ▹Interest in crypto and financial markets
