Senior Software Engineer, Observability
The MongoDB Customer Observability Team helps users manage MongoDB at global scale and is responsible for MongoDB Atlas, the company's database-as-a-service and fastest-growing product. As a Senior Software Engineer you will develop tools and platforms that help users understand the health and performance of their MongoDB deployments: collecting metrics, monitoring slow queries and offering actionable insights such as index and schema suggestions that improve database speed, efficiency and reliability. Candidates should be based in Dublin for the hybrid working model.
Responsibilities
- ▹Design, write and maintain Observability code and features
- ▹Contribute to and lead complex technical projects
- ▹Investigate large-scale distributed production issues
- ▹Collaborate with team members to develop the codebase, best practices and design principles
- ▹Work with customers and support engineers to fix issues and take part in the on-call rotation
- ▹Mentor junior team members
Requirements
- ▹At least 5 years of experience as a backend or full stack engineer
- ▹Backend engineer willing to take on frontend tasks, or a full-stack developer with a bias towards backend
- ▹Has written backend systems in a compiled language (Java, C#, Go, etc.)
- ▹Experience with the design and architecture of a modern, scalable web application
- ▹Enjoys chasing down difficult problems in a distributed environment and at the database diagnostic/operation level
- ▹Familiarity with debugging and troubleshooting production issues
- ▹Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures and their time and space complexity
- ▹Based in Dublin for the hybrid working model
Nice to have
- ▹Experience with distributed event streaming platforms like Kafka or WarpStream and/or event processing platforms like Flink
- ▹Experience developing and writing code observability tools
- ▹Previous work in TypeScript, React and Node.js, particularly maintaining an ecosystem of dependencies
- ▹Knowledge of database internals and tuning mechanisms, particularly indexing
