QA Automation Engineer

Test Automation Engineer • Remote • Full-time European Union Ciudad de Panamá, EU/EMEA

Employment Type: Full-time, Panamanian employee

Work Model: Hybrid - fewer than 5 days per month in the office.

WebRTC.ventures, a division of AgilityFeat, is a software development agency specializing in real-time communication applications. We are headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia, with a QA and testing center in Panama City, Panama. Our team of developers, designers, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, and project leads spans North and South America, and we serve clients around the world.

We are looking for an experienced QA Automation Engineer to join our QA and testing center in Panama City and work directly with one of our clients in a staff augmentation model.

In this role, you will design, build, and maintain automated tests for real-time communication products, with a primary focus on video calls across web and mobile platforms as well as traditional phone calls. You will validate that call quality, connectivity, and user-facing functionality hold up across devices, browsers, and network conditions. Over time, the role may expand to include designing and automating load and performance tests.

This staff augmentation role requires an engineer who is proactive, independent, well organized, and comfortable taking full ownership of their work. You will be embedded with our client’s team and will follow their processes, tools, and ceremonies. At the same time, you’ll have an internal point of contact at WebRTC.ventures who will always be available to you, and you’ll be connected with our internal QA team. However, there is no dedicated internal project manager running your standups, delivery, or daily assignments.

Fluent English is essential, as you will communicate daily with international clients and distributed teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, run, and maintain automated tests for web and mobile applications.
  • Test video calls, including setup, quality, connectivity, and reconnection.
  • Test phone calls and their integration with real-time communication features.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing.
  • Create and maintain automated API tests.
  • Analyze test results and troubleshoot application, test, or environment issues.
  • Document defects clearly and work with developers through resolution.
  • Help improve test strategy, coverage, and automation frameworks.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and maintain reliable test runs.
  • Create load and performance tests and report the results.
  • Work directly with the client’s engineering, product, and QA teams.
  • Proactively communicate progress, risks, and blockers.

Requirements

  • At least three years of professional experience in QA automation.
  • Strong coding and scripting skills in at least one modern programming language.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, executing, and maintaining automated test suites.
  • Solid functional testing experience, including test case design and execution.
  • Hands-on experience testing both web and mobile applications.
  • Experience with API testing, including validating requests, responses, and integrations.
  • Working knowledge of load and performance testing concepts and practices.
  • Ability to analyze test results, troubleshoot failures, and document defects clearly and precisely.
  • Familiarity with version control and CI/CD workflows.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.

Preferred

  • Experience testing real-time communication applications.
  • Familiarity with WebRTC concepts such as media streams, signaling, codecs, and network conditions and their impact on call quality.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, Postman, REST Assured, k6, JMeter, or similar. We care about your ability to choose and apply the right tool, not about any specific one on this list.
  • Exposure to cloud environments, containerization, or observability and monitoring tools.

Soft Skills

  • Strong sense of ownership and leadership, with the ability to take responsibility for quality outcomes.
  • Proactive and self-directed approach, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
