MongoDB is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the new Server Ingress Security team in Dublin, which is rearchitecting MongoDB Server's ingress networking to build the Atlas Network Protection layer. This set of performant, security-critical services in Rust hardens MongoDB's pre-authentication attack surface and enables rapid response to emergent threats. The role follows a hybrid working model and shapes a multi-year roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Lead a team of engineers, managing hiring, growth, compensation, and performance
  • ▹Lead the design, implementation, and operation of production-ready security services in Rust
  • ▹Own the definition and execution of the team's 12-month Atlas Network Protection roadmap
  • ▹Work with Product, Program Management, and engineering leadership to specify and deliver features
  • ▹Handle time-sensitive security incidents and customer escalations
  • ▹Eliminate technical barriers, coordinate cross-team dependencies, and plan for organizational growth

Requirements

  • ▹3+ years managing a team of software engineers (hiring, performance, growth, compensation, mentoring)
  • ▹8+ years building production-quality systems software with large backend/compiled codebases
  • ▹Strong technical judgment in security-sensitive or networking-adjacent domains
  • ▹Solid experience designing, writing, testing, maintaining, and operating mission-critical systems
  • ▹Customer-first mindset and willingness to cross team boundaries for the right solution

Nice to have

  • ▹Experience with Rust
  • ▹Experience with performance profiling, network protocols, TLS, and connection management
  • ▹Professional or advanced academic expertise in security or networking domains
