Senior Software Engineer, Content Agent

Backend Developer • Senior • Remote • Full-time • 📍 London

Sanity is hiring a senior engineer for Content Agent, its operations layer for structured content — the system that turns content work such as bulk edits, audits, translation, and publishing into things an agent can actually run. It lives in Dashboard, Studio, Slack, and behind a headless API, and must understand schemas, references, field types, and validation rules well enough to be trusted to operate on them correctly. The role is full-stack product work in TypeScript and React: MCP tools and integrations, agent orchestration, system prompts, and evals, based in London or Oslo with 2-3 office days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Full-stack product work: React interfaces in Dashboards, APIs, backend services
  • Build MCP tools and integrations that extend what the agent can do
  • Develop agent loops: the orchestration logic deciding what the agent does, in what order, and when to bring a human in
  • Write and maintain system prompts, treated as real engineering artifacts
  • Run evals and experiments to measure and improve reliability in real usage
  • Use GROQ, Sanity's content query language, to give the agent a deep understanding of structured content
  • Shape what Content Agent becomes, together with product and design

Requirements

  • Location: London, UK or Oslo, Norway (in-office 2-3 days/week)
  • Strong TypeScript and React, comfortable across the stack (frontend, APIs, backend)
  • Experience shipping LLM-based systems in production
  • Systems thinking: reasoning through user intent, edge cases, failure modes, and architectural implications of agent capabilities
  • Strong writing skills and a feel for how the phrasing of agent instructions is actually parsed
  • Comfort with probabilistic systems: running experiments, designing evals, reading results statistically
  • Real experience with, or real curiosity about, MCP, tool-use patterns, and agent architectures

Nice to have

  • Non-traditional background (writing, interaction design, liberal arts) with real engineering skills built on top
