Photoroom is looking for a Product ML Engineer, embedded in a product team, to own short, high-impact ML projects from framing the problem to running in production. This is not a research role: the time horizon is weeks rather than quarters. Hybrid working from the Paris headquarters.
Stack
Responsibilities
- ▹Embed directly within a product team (SMB, Scaler or Enterprise) on focused ML problems tied to clear customer and business outcomes
- ▹Own ML projects end to end: frame the problem, choose the approach, execute the plan, ship the feature and monitor its performance in production
- ▹Make the build vs. buy decision: when to fine-tune or build a model yourself versus integrating an external model, API or existing library
- ▹Move from idea to production quickly, on projects scoped in weeks, prioritising rapid iteration and customer impact
- ▹Work closely with the ML team, leveraging shared infrastructure, evaluation tooling and expertise
- ▹Stay close to users: get rapid feedback, monitor how people use what you've shipped and drive the next iteration
- ▹Balance technical depth with pragmatism: know when deeper modelling is necessary and when an existing solution is good enough
- ▹Write production code in the product team's codebase rather than working primarily in research notebooks
- ▹Own quality in production: build sound evaluations, monitor performance and investigate failures once the feature is live
Requirements
- ▹2+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping ML-powered products, with strong experience in PyTorch or equivalent frameworks such as TensorFlow or JAX
- ▹Applied-science depth: fine-tuning vision or diffusion models, designing meaningful evaluations and debugging training runs
- ▹Pragmatic builder who happily uses an external model, API or existing library when that is the fastest route to value
- ▹Product-minded: success measured through shipped features, user behaviour and business outcomes
- ▹Comfortable moving between experimentation and production engineering, writing maintainable code in a real product
- ▹Strong ownership: able to take an ambiguous ML problem and drive it through to production
- ▹Enjoys short feedback loops and iterating quickly
Nice to have
- ▹Experience shipping generative image models or diffusion models into production
- ▹Experience evaluating third-party AI APIs against internal alternatives
- ▹Experience working in a fast-growing startup or directly within a product team
Soft skills
OwnershipCuriosity and collaborationKnowledge sharing and humility
What we offer
- ▹Competitive salary and meaningful equity
- ▹Hybrid working from the Paris headquarters
- ▹Visa sponsorship and relocation support of up to €10,000
- ▹MacBook Pro and full home office setup
- ▹30 days annual leave
- ▹Private healthcare
- ▹Regular company off-sites and team retreats
- ▹International English-speaking team
- ▹Language lessons in English and French
