Responsibilities

• ▹Be accountable for the delivery and personal development of your team(s)
• ▹Act as servant leader, adapting your leadership style to the situation
• ▹Look after individuals' performance and support their career journey through coaching and mentoring
• ▹Act as a technical champion, ensuring the team has the time and context to build systems that meet the organisation's standards
• ▹Enable effective collaboration within the team and support it through architecture, design and implementation challenges
• ▹Develop a long-term strategy and roadmap for the team with the Product Manager, aligned with the Tribe mission
• ▹Strategic team building and planning for highly available features that scale with growth
• ▹Be a key part of recruiting and growing the engineering team
• ▹Work with business and team metrics to deliver a 7 star experience to customers
• ▹Provide feedback to stakeholders within Builders (Product and Eng) and sometimes the wider business

Requirements

• ▹Around 5-8 years of experience managing software engineers
• ▹Has managed, and will continue to manage, around 8-10 software engineers
• ▹Technical background, ideally as a hands-on software engineer (IC)
• ▹Builds an effective work culture that improves the working lives of the team
• ▹Experience managing larger teams, building processes and systems of delegation
• ▹Problem finder and solver, technically and organisationally
• ▹Runs effective performance reviews
• ▹Pragmatism and obsession for simplicity, efficiency and performance
• ▹Ability to adapt and react fast to a changing environment
• ▹Managing AI-driven development: experience with or strong interest in AI-augmented workflows, driving the team to leverage agentic workflows and develop custom agentic skills
• ▹English is the official office language; the resume must be submitted in English
• ▹Based within commuting distance of the Barcelona hub (in-person 3 days a week)
