Canonical is hiring an Engineering Manager for Ceph & Distributed Storage to lead a team building a Ceph-focused software-defined storage solution. The goal is to make distributed Ceph easy to install, manage and use, from large enterprise data centers to half-rack edge sites. The manager must be technically strong while focused on running an effective, globally distributed team. The role is work-from-home with global travel up to 20%.
Responsibilities
- ▹Lead a team building a Ceph-focused software-defined storage solution
- ▹Build and manage a globally distributed team of engineers
- ▹Develop the team through coaching, mentoring and feedback
- ▹Directly contribute toward the team's goals with sound engineering principles
- ▹Set reasonable schedules based on considered estimates with feedback loops
- ▹Advance modern, agile software development practices and maintain engineering excellence
Requirements
- ▹Software engineering background, preferably with Python and C++ experience
- ▹Experience operating scale-out storage clusters on Linux in production, preferably Ceph
- ▹Technical leadership experience
- ▹Track record of developing and growing people
- ▹Interest in building products that improve how people operate software and infrastructure
Nice to have
- ▹Hands-on Ceph experience
- ▹Experience with edge to large enterprise data center deployments
