Software Developer / IT Solution Engineer – GIS

Salzburg AG (energy, transport, and telecommunications) is looking for an IT Solution Engineer – GIS to oversee its GIS-based IT services across their full lifecycle, from architecture design to monitoring and incident handling, working closely with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and take responsibility for GIS IT services across their full lifecycle (lifecycle management, architecture), including monitoring, control, and management of applications and systems.
  • Align requirements with business stakeholders, external service providers, and within the relevant business unit.
  • Conceive and technically implement scalable, secure IT solutions, including technology selection, architecture design, integration, and preparation of decision materials.
  • Collaborate with internal development teams or external partners to ensure quality, performance, and security.
  • Analyze and resolve incidents in a 2nd/3rd-level support role, working closely with customers and suppliers.
  • Perform testing, create and maintain technical documentation, ensure compliance with IT governance requirements, and plan the IT budget while participating in implementation projects.

Requirements

  • Completed IT education (university degree, university of applied sciences degree, or technical college/HTL).
  • Knowledge of IT architecture and IT technologies (cloud, security), ITIL, and requirements engineering.
  • Experience operating backend systems (Windows Server, Azure, Linux) and databases (MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
  • Analytical and structured thinking and working style.
  • Programming experience: Java and Magik (for GE Smallworld GIS), or solid knowledge of an object-oriented programming language.
  • Familiarity with development tools and technologies: Git, Docker, AKS, AVDs/Virtual Machine Scale Sets, Visual Studio Code.
