Principal Data Scientist, Generative Recommendations & AI

Stack

Responsibilities

• ▹Lead the evolution of recommendation systems into the Generative AI era, researching generative recommendation paradigms (agentic recommendations, contextual narratives)
• ▹Develop an algorithmic intent layer that translates real-time browsing signals into actionable customer intents
• ▹Architect ML pathways to expose core recommendation actions as tools for AI agents, powering seamless conversational shopping experiences
• ▹Build advanced propensity models and customer segmentations/personas aligned to company strategy
• ▹Build multi-layered, hybrid machine learning models for bot detection using historical web tracking data
• ▹Partner with another Principal Data Scientist to divide and conquer complex research initiatives and accelerate team output
• ▹Act as the primary AI ambassador across Vista, influencing product, engineering, and business leadership
• ▹Work with platform and experience teams to ensure ML models integrate without degrading Core Web Vitals or caching efficiency

Requirements

• ▹8+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning models and LLMs into high-scale customer experiences
• ▹Proficiency with Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, SQL, Databricks, and Snowflake
