Responsibilities

• ▹Own technical direction across Heartbeat AI's engineering domain (mobile apps, energy data, IoT platform, and beyond)
• ▹Hold the team accountable for consistent execution of technical decisions
• ▹Set the technical bar for the team, stepping into the hardest problems directly
• ▹Translate business and product requirements into technical solutions
• ▹Mentor engineers within Heartbeat AI
• ▹Build a high-performing engineering culture
• ▹Embed security and reliability as direct customer value
• ▹Architect systems and APIs so AI agents operate as first-class users with machine-readable contracts and self-correcting structured errors
• ▹Drive Heartbeat AI's shift to agentic engineering
• ▹Own the architecture of the AI systems that power the product itself, from the EMS to the energy tariff

Requirements

• ▹5+ years of hands-on software development experience across multiple general-purpose programming languages
• ▹Proven track record architecting scalable and secure systems
• ▹Extensive experience designing and implementing APIs enabling system integration
• ▹Experience designing systems and APIs for agent consumption, with structured errors and clear contracts
• ▹Capability to guide an engineering team through the shift to agentic engineering
